Sanyo SCP-3100 Espresso

The Sanyo SCP 3100 Espresso is a tri-mode/dual-band clamshell camera phone with both analog and digital versions. The Sanyo SCP-3100 Espresso’s dimensions are 84 x 46 x 25.6 mm and weighs in at just weighs 99g. The phone has a standard SANYO lithium-ion 1000 mAh battery with a digital talk time of up to 3.6 hours. The digital talk time with the optional extended battery is 5.6 hours. The Sanyo SCP-3100 Espresso works in 1G, 2G and 3G networks. The 1G Analog Mobile Phone System (AMPS) supports the 800 MHz band using FDMA technology. The digital system uses 2G CDMA technology; using bands 800/1900 MHz. This phone will also function in 3G CDMA networks. However, the data services specific to the network may not be available. The phone has the capability for nation-wide walkie-talkie communication for one-to-one or 6-party conference calls. The SCP-3100 also has a WAP2.0 browser giving the user the ability to access the World Wide Web. The SCP-3100 also has the ability to download and play J2MEâ„¢ runtime environment games, run applications and configure ring tones and screen savers. The 3100’s USB port can be used to connect accessories and can also be used as a modem by connecting it to a PC with a USB cable through the Sprint PCS connection Manager.

The 3100 has an integrated VGA camera with a digital zoom, and the camera has controls for brightness, color tone and picture effects. There is also a self timer and external mirror for taking self-portraits. As a Sprint subscriber, the user also has the option of creating an online photo album on their Sprint web site with Sprint’s PCS® Picture Mail feature.

The PIM features present in the phone are Calendar, Alarm, To-do-list, Clock, Stop watch, call history, call screening and phone book with 300 name entries, 300 e-mails and 300 web addresses. The Picture Caller ID and Ringer Caller ID can be configured in the phone book allowing the user to set images and ringtones for individual callers. When these options are turned on, a picture of the caller is displayed, or a specially configured ringtone is played, when the contact from the phone book calls. The phone has parental and business control settings to restrict entries into the phone book from unauthorized users. The speaker phone can be used with the phones voice activated control feature to make hands-free phone calls while driving or working. The vibrating alert feature can be configured for the phone to ring only, vibrate only or to vibrate and ring at the same time.

The messaging services available on the 3100 cell phone are SMS, MMS, e-mail and instant messaging. Internet e-mails & instant messaging services like AOL, MSN, Yahoo and ICQ can be accessed through a WAP enabled internet browser. The SCP also offers T9 predictive text capabilities which are used is to predict and complete words as they are entered into the phone, in predictive dialing mode, keys are pressed only once irrespective of the position of the alphabet on the key. The SCP-3100 is TTY compatible and has Hearing Aid Compatibility (M3 rating). The phone lock can be used to protect the keypad and the users data. There is a feature to reset & lock the phone through SMS, I.e. when the phone is misplaced send a SMS message from www.sprint.com to the phone to erase personal data and lock the phone. The format for the SMS message is “\\RESET ****RESET”
